People With Disabilities, Families Rally Against Further CA Budget Cuts

Hundreds of Community Members Expected to Protest Additional $750 Million Funding Cut to Developmental Services

The Assembly will hold its final budget hearing February 10 in Sacramento to vote on the Governor’s proposed $750 million reduction to developmental services this year.  On the same day in Los Angeles individuals and families will rally in front of the State Office Building in Van Nuys to share how these cuts have, and will, impact their lives.  The proposed cuts mean a reduction of $1 billion over two years – a reduction of more than 25% of all dollars devoted to people with developmental disabilities in our state.
WHO: People with disabilities, their families, community members and a coalition of disabilities service agencies: Tierra del Sol, New Horizons, Easter Seals Southern California, Villa Esperanza Services, Path Point, Exceptional Children’s Foundation, Jay Nolan Community Services, C.L.I.M.B., United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), Valley Village, Ability First, Arriba, Lincoln Training Center, Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind (TLC) and Disability Rights California.
