It is important for children and adults to participate in family life and in the community where they live.
Licensed residential services located in neighborhoods with community resources can be a choice for adults. Services, such as supported and independent living, can be part of the plan as well. The goal is to maintain the highest level of independence possible. Certified foster family homes may be selected if important for the child. Family Home Agencies can provide home-like settings as well.
Licensed residential services for adults provide a home-like setting and roommates.
These licensed residential services may be licensed by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division or by the Department of Health Services Licensing and Certification.
Persons choose when and with whom they want to live. To help the person be safe, healthy and have the chance to make friends, a combination of natural supports and care staff are provided.
To be able to live independently, the person is provided with training in skills such as money and household management, social skills and the use of direct supports.
These living arrangement services will be located in neighborhoods so individuals can independently access community resources. Tri-Counties Regional Center will assure that living arrangement services make provisions for health care and for the overall physical and emotional well-being of persons served.
These agencies work with family home providers to establish a home setting for persons.
Other ways to pay for housing: Supplemental Security Income will use this income to pay for living arrangement services, Medi-Cal to pay for living arrangement services which are Medi-Cal funded. Parents of minors in residential programs will be assessed a sliding scale reimbursement or parental fee by the Department of Developmental Services. County Departments of Social Services fund children in placement for whom they are responsible.
