California will be issuing Emergency Allotments (EA) to current CalFresh recipients for May & June 2020. The Emergency Allotment for May will be issued on June 14 and for June, it will be issued on July 12 to bring their CF benefits up to maximum amount allowable based on household size. Per Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), households already receiving the maximum allotment are not eligible to receive an emergency allotment.
What Does it Mean ?
For Example: In May, an eligible household of one received $100 in regular CalFresh benefits. This household will receive a $94 on Emergency Allotment (EA) on June 14 and again on July 12. This will bring the household total monthly benefit to the maximum for a single person household, $194. This EA will be automatically loaded to their EBT card on those specific dates.
