Never give information to someone that you don’t know. Hackers may call claiming to be from a regional center and ask for a social security number, address or other information.
From the State Council on Development Disabilities:
Recently, a family received a “robo call” where the caller stated that he was with the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC). The caller asked the family for their child’s social security number, address and other information. The call came from 1-800-472-8089, which is not a number belonging to the SDRC. Clients and families should only share their information with known members of the SDRC staff.
